Hundreds of mourners have gathered at Christ Cathedral Bugembe to honour and celebrate the life of 105-year-old William Kyeyamwa, who touched the hearts of many with his kindness and humour.
In a church service at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe on August 27, 2025, presided over by Busoga Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev. Paul Samson Naimanhye, he (Naimanhye) characterised Kyeyamwa as a servant of God.
“Kyeyamwa was a highly knowledgeable elder with a lot of experience. He was a respectable servant of God, advisor and loving person,” said Bishop Naimanhye.
Daniel Mushabe Kakaire, the president of Mwiri Old Boys Association (MOBA) said Kyeyamwa was an instrumental and committed old boy of Busoga College Mwiri.
“Imagine at 105 years, he was still involved in Mwiri activities—surprisingly, three weeks ago, he called us and said he wanted to pay his contribution for the school’s main gate so that his name can be inscribed on the list of old boys that have contributed sh1 million, which will be pinned on the gate,” Mushabe said.
Mushabe said that as MOBA, they have decided to honour Kyeyamwa and his name will be in slot 2 on the list.

Robert Kisubi, a member of MOBA, described Kyeyamwa as a father to all Mwirians who always stayed in close touch with the school.
Kiige Kaitaita, a resident of Katwe zone in Bugembe town, recalled when Kyeyamwa drove him in his 404 Peugeot to MM College Wairaka.
Kaitaita was at MM College Wairaka from 1983 to 1986.
Herbert Kyeyamwa said that his father joined Busoga College Mwiri in 1935 and received a handmade school badge, which, before his death, he handed to him to return to the school as school property.
Kyeyamwa, who is also the Chairman of Busoga College Mwiri’s Board of Governors, elaborated that his late father succumbed to pneumonia at Nile International Hospital in Walukuba/Masese in Jinja City.
He added that Mzee Kyeyamwa has been Busoga College Mwiri’s oldest life member.
Kyeyamwa further said that his father was a man of humble beginnings, but he was rich in ways that cannot be measured by material possessions—he was rich in wisdom, in kindness and in love.
He (Mzee Kyeyamwa) was the kind of man who knew the value of hard work, the importance of honesty and the strength of humility, adding that his life was not an easy one, but a journey embarked on with courage and dignity.
Several dignitaries and government officials attended the church service. Kyeyamwa's body will be laid to rest on August 28, 2025, at Bulalu village in Luuka district.
