The Lango Cultural Institution has signalled its support for Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s philanthropic efforts by purchasing 200 kits for the MK 2026 Birthday Run in Kampala.

This partnership, solidified by a sh4 million contribution, aims to transform the milestone celebration into a massive humanitarian effort targeted at supporting vulnerable children and orphans across the Lango sub-region and Uganda.

Marking the CDF’s 52nd birthday, the Won Nyaci me Lango, through the Lango Cultural Institution (Tekwaro Lango), hailed Kainerugaba as a "beacon of security" and a vital role model for the nation's youth.

The cultural leadership expressed that the army leader’s long-standing commitment to national stability served as the primary catalyst for this partnership. By linking his personal milestone to a broader mission of public service, the Lango Cultural Institution underscored the deep respect the Lango people hold for Kainerugaba's contributions to the country's wellbeing.

The partnership is backed by a concrete financial commitment, with the institution purchasing 200 running kits valued at sh4 million.

These funds are specifically earmarked for humanitarian relief, seeking to provide a safety net for children in baby homes and orphans who lack basic support systems.

Francis Ogwang, the minister representing the Won Nyaci of Lango, emphasized the importance of this joint effort.

“We believe that our shared values in helping and uplifting community make this a perfect partnership opportunity which will play a direct role in creating a lasting, positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children in Lango and Uganda at large," he said.

The partnership represents a significant alignment between traditional leadership and national figures to address pressing socio-economic challenges.

By participating in the "Gen MK 52 Run," which drew an estimated 50,000 people and high-profile support from figures like Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, who contributed sh100 million towards the cause, the Lango Cultural Institution is helping to bridge the gap between celebration and social action.

Ogwang further highlighted the long-term goals of the alliance, saying: “By joining forces, Tekwaro Lango and Gen. Muhoozi seek to create a sustainable impact that transcends a single day of celebration.”

Organized by the Patriots Club and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), the event transformed a birthday milestone into a massive civic movement under the theme "Run for Charity, Run for Hope".

With kit sales and major donations totaling hundreds of millions of shillings, the run has set a new standard for how national celebrations can be leveraged to support the most disadvantaged groups in Ugandan society.
