At least three Uganda Revenue Authority staff died Sunday evening (May 24) after a van in which they were travelling hit an elephant near Karuma.
Among the dead is Robert Wamala, a tax education officer with the tax body. Wamala is a former journalist with the defunct WBS Television.
Reports indicate that after their van knocked the elephant, it got up in anger and smashed their vehicle, killing three people instantly.
The incident happened about 10km to Karuma Bridge as the team was moving from West Nile area towards Kampala.
