The Bothers of Christian Instruction came to Uganda (from Canada) in 1926 on the invitation of the White Fathers (Missionaries of Africa), to assist them with the administration of the schools they had founded.

Upon arrival, the Brothers, led by Bro. Charles Jules Poitras, took over administration of the current St Mary’s College Kisubi. Later on, they established or administered popular schools and higher institutions of learning.
