Kampala University mourns senior journalism lecturer Kiyimba
“This is to notify the Kampala University family that our former Head of Department, Mass Communication (Kiyimba), has passed on today,” Ssekatawa stated in a statement released Tuesday, March 17, 2026, without mentioning the cause of the deceased’s death.
According to Ssekatawa, the deceased will be buried Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at his ancestral grounds, Kigoogwa in Wakiso district at 4:00pm.
KAMPALA - The Kampala University staff and the student fraternity is mourning the death of Abdallah Kiyimba, a seasoned academic and senior lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication.
News of Kiyimba’s demise was confirmed on Tuesday evening by the university's Public Relations Officer, Julius Ssekatawa.
“This is to notify the Kampala University family that our former Head of Department, Mass Communication (Kiyimba), has passed on today,” Ssekatawa stated in a statement released Tuesday, March 17, 2026, without mentioning the cause of the deceased’s death.
According to Ssekatawa, the deceased will be buried today (Wednesday, March 18, 2026) at his ancestral grounds, Kigoogwa in Wakiso district at 4:00pm.
Although the official cause of death had not been confirmed, sources close to the late academic suggested he succumbed to cancer.
