Co-wife arrested over strangling month-old baby

Police have apprehended a young woman in Serere district accused of strangling a month-old baby girl to death.

The deceased has been identified as Sarah Adong.

According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the suspect, Loy Apendono, reportedly entered the grass-thatched house of the baby's grandmother, Debora Akello, and attacked the infant, ultimately causing her death by strangulation.

Initial investigations suggest that Apendono is a co-wife and allegedly acted out of jealousy upon learning of the newborn baby, according to Enanga.

"The tragic incident has left the community reeling, as authorities work to gather more information and piece together the circumstances surrounding the baby's untimely demise," Enanga said.
