45 years of service: Msgr. Dr. Ssemusu celebrated for dedication to priesthood

Interesting compliments have been paid to Msgr. Dr Larry Ssemusu, the inaugural Chaplain of St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Community, Makerere University Business School (MUBS), who this year marks 45 years in Catholic priesthood.

“Ssemusu is an exemplary priest and accomplished educationist who has left a rich, holistic legacy everywhere he has been. He has built churches, presbyteries and schools. We thank him for his generosity and commitment to humanity,” he said.

Fr. Achilles Kiwanuka (the homilist) also made interesting statements about Ssemusu: Our brother Msgr. Dr Lawrence Ssemusu, you have done your priesthood with dedication, conviction and zeal. Your life and testimony also serve as proof that God can lift anybody from grass to grace.

Ssemusu was also lauded by local celebrities, including Fr. Anthony Aliddeki Musaala and singer Spice Diana of the Siri Regular fame.

Ssemusu thanked all those who have supported him in his ministry. He mentioned, among others, his family members, his brother priests, his successive bishops, and his bosses at the respective institutions where he has worked, including Uganda Martyrs University and MUBS, where he is currently stationed.

During the function, Ssemusu celebrated 45 years in priesthood, 70 years of life, and 21 years of mission at MUBS.

He also launched his book, From Banana Plantation to the Altar. Ssemusu also inaugurated the Board of St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Chaplaincy (MUBS). The Catholic community of MUBS also welcomed the new students.

Last but not least, a fundraising drive for the construction of the proposed Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala Students Centre, MUBS, was also launched.
