Trading on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) slowed sharply last week, with total turnover falling to sh883.12m from sh4.32b the previous week.
Market data from Crested Capital show that activity was concentrated in just seven counters. Stanbic traded shares worth sh782.61m. MTN Uganda followed with sh54.7m, while Bank of Baroda traded sh18.49m.
Quality Chemicals Limited (QCIL) exchanged sh17.74m, and Umeme moved about sh8.02m. Airtel Uganda and dfcu were largely quiet, trading sh1.03m and sh529,760 respectively.
On share price movements, Dfcu edged up 0.33% to sh301 per share, and MTN rose 1.83% to sh311. Stanbic dropped 5.21% to close at sh60.
The other domestic counters held steady, with Baroda at sh47, Airtel at sh85, BATU at sh13,500, Uganda Clays at sh6.5, New Vision at sh150, NIC at sh5.20, and QCIL at sh119.
On cross-listed stocks, Centum Investment rose 1.48% to sh420, East African Breweries Limited added 0.24% to sh6,594.10, Equity Group grew 0.8% to sh1,795.84, and Jubilee Holdings jumped 5.88% to sh9,9098.46.
Kenya Airways lost 0.86% to sh103.26, KCB rose 1.98% to sh1,837.93, and Nation Media Group inched up 0.07% to sh366.18.
