Finance minister Matia Kasaija said Wednesday that for Uganda to increased its pool of local funding, "we must grow our savings culture".
"World over, social security saving schemes are an important player in the mobilisation of a pool of local financing for a country's projects," he said.
The minister added that social security saving schemes also play a "critical role in availing affordable domestic capital that can be used to finance the long-term national projects".
Kasaija was addressing a joint press conference at the Uganda Media Centre, together with gender minister Betty Amongi, on the implementation of the new mandate of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
