Uganda’s intellectual property law practice has received international mention, with KTA Advocates listed in the 2025 edition of the World Trademark Review 1000 (WTR 1000) as a top-ranked trademark law firm.

The firm was placed in the Gold Tier category, with the WTR 1000 citing its role in trademark advisory and litigation, as well as its understanding of the local legal market.

KTA’s senior partner, Edgar Tabaro, was also individually recognised for his litigation experience in IP law and contributions to enforcement and transactional matters in Uganda and the East African region.

“It is a true honour for our firm to receive this recognition from WTR,” said Tabaro. “It underscores our continued commitment to providing high-level, innovative IP legal services in Uganda and across the East African region. This is a win for our clients, our team, and for the advancement of IP rights in Africa.”

KTA has expanded into digital and technology law, with partner Kenneth Muhangi noted for working with international bodies such as the World Bank and the World Economic Forum on policy issues related to fintech and digital trade.

The development highlights Uganda’s growing presence in the global IP space, as local firms play a bigger role in supporting innovation and cross-border trade.
