Ugandan manufacturers and processors, who have ready-to-export brands, should parade them before potential buyers at the Uganda Connect International Buyers Week, which kicked off today, November 24, 2025, at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala city.

Organised by the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), the new feature, where export-ready commodities will be traded, is dubbed Uganda Connect Marketplace.

According to PACEID head of secretariat Mathew Bagonza, the Uganda Connect Marketplace feature is a platform that will showcase Uganda’s best export-ready brands through live demonstrations, buyer sampling and consumer engagement.

The event, running till November 28, will run under the theme: Meet, Connect, Trade and is expected to bring together global buyers who will experience Uganda’s export potential through matchmaking, sampling and factory visits, among others.

PACEID chairperson Odrek Rwabwogo says the purpose of the event is to show what a country can do when demand increases.

“We have a lot of orders that require you to spend money running from district to another to aggregate so the firms interested in adding value can get them, do the processing and manufacturing to grow the industry, and that is what the country is looking for,” he said recently.

He added that the Uganda Connect International Buyers’ Week aims to position Uganda as a competitive source of high-quality products and services for global markets.

Participants at the event include international buyers, investors, and trade representatives for business deals, factory visits, product sampling, and trade facilitation.

Key discussions of the event will revolve around enhancing market access, where participants will identify and address barriers currently faced by exporters in accessing international markets.

Strengthen market confidence through the demonstration of Uganda’s capacity, quality standards, and reliability as a global exporter.

Share market intelligence for participants to learn from international buyers about emerging trends and long-term sourcing requirements.

Facilitate trade agreements so as to connect vetted Ugandan exporters with international buyers for direct deal negotiations.

But also, to celebrate export success by highlighting Uganda’s achievements in high-value export sectors such as coffee, fruits and vegetables, among others.
