Network International, an enabler of digital commerce in the Middle East and Africa, has extended its partnership with Dubai-based carrier flydubai to introduce mobile money payments for customers in Kenya and Uganda.

This new integration aims to provide smooth payment options for flight bookings and other airline services, catering to the growing demand for digital payment solutions in East Africa.

Flydubai customers in Uganda and Kenya can now pay for flights directly through Mpesa, Airtel Money and MTN Mobile Money when booking via flydubai's website (flydubai.com) or mobile app. This move enhances the travel experience by offering more accessible and secure payment options, beyond traditional card-based transactions. Looking ahead, flydubai plans to expand this mobile payment option to more African markets, including Tanzania.

Sudhir Sreedharan, the divisional senior vice president of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent) at flydubai, expressed excitement about the partnership, said on Thursday 3 April 2025 that they are excited to partner with Network International, continuing their commitment to investing in innovative technologies.

“Since launching services to Entebbe in 2014 and Mombasa in 2024, we have witnessed growing demand in these markets. This partnership responds to that need, providing more accessible and efficient payment solutions for our customers. We are excited to offer an enhanced travel experience both on the ground and in the air,” Sreedharan explained.

Judy Waruiru, the regional managing director for East Africa Acquiring at Network International said that the partnership is an important step in improving the customer experience in East Africa. “With the region being a global leader in mobile money adoption, integrating these solutions with an international airline underscores the power of strategic collaborations in advancing digital payments,” Waruiru noted.

“By bridging global travel with familiar, seamless payment solutions, we not only enhance customer convenience but also set a new standard for expanding digital solutions across the region,” Waruiru added.

Network International is a provider of technology-enabled payment solutions for merchants and financial institutions of all types and sizes. Serving more than 50 countries across the Middle East and Africa, including over 40 African markets, it offers acquiring, processing, and a comprehensive range of value-added services.
