All roads this evening (November 19, 2025) lead to Kampala city-based Mestil Hotel as leading financial institutions converge for the prestigious Annual Bankers Awards (ABA) 2025, which celebrate excellence, innovation and leadership across Uganda’s banking sector.

Hosted by the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (UIBFS), this year’s edition runs under the theme: Beyond the Finish Line, highlighting the sector’s resilience, transformation, and commitment to customer-centred solutions.

The awards ceremony is expected to bring together top executives from commercial banks, MDIs, regulatory bodies, fintech leaders and distinguished guests from the financial ecosystem.

With a strict black tie dress code accented with sage green or navy blue, the evening promises glamour, sophistication and a celebration of excellence.

Guests are already arriving at Mestil’s grand ballroom, where final touches from stage lighting to red carpet arrangements are setting the scene for one of the year’s most anticipated industry events.

Key institutions participating in this year’s ceremony include Stanbic Bank, Absa Bank, DTB, Equity Bank, NCBA, Standard Chartered, UDB, Ecobank, Housing Finance Bank, Bank of Africa, Cairo Bank, United Bank for Africa, FINCA, GTCO, UGAFODE, Bank of Baroda, and Centenary CBU, among others, represented under the Uganda Bankers Association.

The awards are expected to recognise outstanding performance across several categories, including innovation in banking, customer service excellence, digital transformation leadership, financial inclusion impact, sustainability and esg commitment, and the coveted Bank of the Year.

The event is supported by Bank of Uganda, whose governor is expected to grace the ceremony alongside top industry leaders and partners.

Event co-ordinator Christine Birungi has been at the centre of preparations.

The 2025 edition comes at a time when financial institutions are pushing to adopt cutting-edge technology, strengthening regulatory frameworks and advancing customer-first banking solutions in an evolving economic landscape.

The ceremony will also spotlight institutions championing financial literacy, digital inclusion, SME support and sustainability areas that have increasingly become central to Uganda’s financial sector growth.
