TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda Limited has commissioned its newly revamped Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) filling and storage plant in Jinja, in a move expected to boost access to clean cooking energy and strengthen the country’s energy transition agenda.
The facility, located along Clark Road in the Jinja Industrial Area, has been upgraded with fully automated systems designed to ensure efficiency, safety and accuracy in cylinder filling.
The company officials said the plant incorporates advanced safety mechanisms that guarantee zero leakage and tamper-proof sealing, giving customers confidence in both the quality and quantity of LPG supplied.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Wednesday, the managing director of TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda Limited, Olufemi Babajide, said the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to delivering reliable and cleaner energy solutions.
Babajide noted that the refurbished plant aligns with Uganda’s aspirations to expand access to modern energy, especially as the country prepares for domestic LPG production linked to the oil and gas sector.
“One of our core values is pioneering spirit. This investment demonstrates our commitment to leading the delivery of clean, safe and efficient energy solutions to Ugandans, while contributing to sustainable development,” he said.
The event was also attended by Biova Agbokou, Executive Vice President for East and Central Africa at TotalEnergies, who said the project contributes to the company’s global ambition of providing 100 million people in Africa and India with access to clean cooking energy by 2030.
