Sustainable agro-industrialisation has the potential to transform Uganda’s Economy

On 4th May 2021, Government of Uganda in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched the National Industrial Policy (NIP) 2020.The Policy gives direction to the country on how it will industrialise and create jobs and wealth for the citizens. It consolidates the gains of the National Industrial Policy 2008 and envisions the transformation of Uganda’s industrial sector into a fully integrated, competitive, high value and productive industrial sector.The new Policy has been developed to align the country’s agenda to the emerging challenges and harness new opportunities such as the African ContinentalFree Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
