Soroti City Council has issued a two-week eviction notice to 32 tenants at Nakatunya Market for using the premises as accommodation.

The decision follows concerns over poor sanitation and hygiene at the market.

Jobus Peter Odikor, the Nakatunya town agent, emphasised that the market is designated strictly for business activities, citing improper waste disposal as a major concern.

Vendors have also been facing internal conflicts, including political divisions and rumours, according to chairperson Jane Igeru.

Meanwhile, assistant resident city commissioner Musa Oroma cautioned against disruptive behaviour, stressing the need for unity and order in the market.
