She made the call on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, during her interaction with the Katakwi Muslim community on a range of development matters as they celebrate Idd-al-Fitr.

Alupo also used the opportunity to extend her gifts to the Muslims who were drawn from all mosques within Katakwi for today’s celebration.

Take advantage of Muslim bank

She called upon Muslims to take advantage of the newly launched Islamic Banking services in the country.

👉President Museveni launches first Islamic bank

Islamic banking is a phrase used to refer to the banking services that follow Islamic principles, which bar the charging of interest on a loan (RIBA)

However, it provides for the lender to take interest in the beneficiary project and at the end of it, share in the profits or losses of the project.

She explained that the newly launched Salaam Bank will enable all Muslims to fully enjoy banking services including access to Parish Development Model programme funds.

“There’s now no reason the Muslim community should not fully enjoy the banking services including access to Parish Development Model funds for household wealth creation,” Alupo said.

The vice president added that the NRM Government under the able leadership of President Yoweri Museveni will continue to partner with the Muslim community in development and household wealth creation.

She said we should endeavour to see that divine practices do not stop at the end of this holy month, but continue to prevail as our norms always.
