KAMPALA - Uganda is set to host the East African Securities Exchanges Association (EASEA) meeting and the East Africa Capital Markets Conference (EACMC) 2025 tomorrow (October 16).

The two-day regional forum will be held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

The conference, organised by the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) and the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), brings together regulators, investors, listed companies, fund managers, policymakers, and development partners to examine how East Africa’s markets can grow stronger through innovation and collaboration.

Finance Minister Matia Kasaija is expected to open the main conference under the theme, Shaping East Africa’s Capital Markets through Digital Transformation and Sustainable Finance.

While the East African Community has made progress in aligning trade and financial policies, its capital markets remain largely fragmented, limiting liquidity and investor participation.

In March this year, EASEA appointed Paul Bwiso, CEO at the USE, as its new chairman. Paul succeeded Pierre Celestin Rwabukumba of the Rwanda Stock Exchange in the role.
Bwiso’s two-year term followed his election during EASEA’s 34th Consultative meeting hosted by the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange in Tanzania.
