OYAM - Oyam district residents are reporting a massive booming business, crediting a surge in sales to Radio Rupiny’s popular 'Piny Dong Oruu' promotion programme.
This initiative, aimed at giving back to loyal listeners in Northern Uganda, takes the radio station to the grassroots, showcasing different products from the Vision Group and its partners.
The event, which took place on September 29, 2025, at Mit pa-coo Market, coincided with a regular market day.
The Local traders widely hailed the activation as an unprecedented boost that far exceeded typical business activity.

Corporate partners, including Dura Motors Ltd, MTN Uganda, and Ola Energy Uganda support the programme.
The live broadcast served as a powerful magnet, attracting large crowds of all ages with its vibrant mix of music and entertainment. Food vendors, in particular, reported a significant boom.
Vincent Oyet, who sells roasted chicken, reported a remarkable jump in his business.
"I roasted over four chickens today," Oyet shared, noting that this number was significantly higher than his usual daily average.

Listeners of Radio Rupiny were thrilled by different performances.
He praised the station’s management, calling the decision to broadcast live during the busy market day "a blessing" that directly translated into more income for the community.
However, the increased demand exposed trade challenges. Jimmy Omor, who sells roasted pork, also experienced high demand but pointed to a major hurdle: a scarcity of pigs is driving up the price of pork.
The 'Piny Dong Oruu' programme is Radio Rupiny’s annual market activation.

Oyam residents now hope that the community outreach will become a regular fixture, helping to solidify the market's reputation as a dynamic hub for commerce.
The event’s success also drew attention from corporate partners. Attendees included Steven Mudanya, Operations Manager for Ola Energy Uganda, and Gilbert Jombe, representing Dura Motors Uganda.
