Trading on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) wrapped up today (May 18) with majority share prices relatively unchanged across the board. Activity stayed subdued as several counters saw no deals at all.

Quality Chemical Industries led the advances, closing the session at sh140.00 after jumping 9.38% on volume of 27,800 shares. That move provided the main positive note in an otherwise quiet day at the bourse.

On the downside, Umeme dropped sh6 shillings to close at sh63 million, representing an 8.7% decline. The utility stock traded a hefty 1,183,800 shares at that price, reflecting some selling pressure on the counter.

Most other listed securities, including Airtel Uganda, MTN Uganda, Stanbic Holdings and DFCU, showed no price change. Many recorded zero trading volume.

According to data from Crested Capital, bids and offers appeared in several counters but failed to result in matches for the bulk of the session.
