The forum will provide market-defining insight from some of Uganda’s top entrepreneurs and business experts, whose entrepreneurial excellence further covers industrial presence across the region.

“Ugachick Poultry Breeders Ltd, which has recently celebrated 33 years of existence in Uganda’s poultry business, is a practical example of a successful business enterprise, which many people can learn from,” he said in an interview on Wednesday, 19th November.

This was during his meeting with a group of journalists from Vision Group, who met him at the company headquarters at Magigye.

He further noted that his message will also offer a reminder of the opportunities that exist, not for those who merely dream, but for those who prepare, who persist, and who walk the entrepreneurial journey with integrity and humility.

“I look forward to sharing insights, engage the Uganda business community, and contribute to a strong and resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem,” he said.

Sekalala, who also doubles as the chairperson of Uganda Manufacturers Association, added that he was ready to share his profound lived experience that has shaped the growth and regional presence of Ugachick, a company that has now diversified its agribusiness portfolio. It now produces animal feeds, organically produced vaccines and animal medicine, and broods one-day-old chicks.

“I will also channel my message to Ugandan entrepreneurs with emphasis on the young people and the MSME enterprises community. I will speak on what it takes to build a business entity which can survive and outlive its founder,” he said.

Said Sekalala: “I will speak about what I have always advocated for: The values by which we run our businesses and the timeless foundation that every successful entrepreneur must build upon,” he said.

Uganda presents different opportunities across several sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, technology, tourism, energy and services.

Family business

On the secrets of building an enduring business empire, Sekalala said that some of the traits to be adopted include resilience, integrity, financial prudence and the courage to start small while thinking big.

“I had to work my way up the managerial ladder of this family business. I got an opportunity to offer my hand in as many departments through training. This is what a family enterprise has to do to groom successors,” he said.
