There was excitement and jubilation in Bombo Town on Tuesday after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni injected over sh30 million into Namaliga and Bombo Central Market traders.
The financial package, amounting to sh30.4 million, was delivered by the Senior Presidential Advisor on Elderly Affairs, Princess Pauline Nassolo.
The news of the financial support was met with overwhelming joy among market leaders and vendors.
Princess Nassolo informed the jubilant crowds that the support was part of President Museveni's broader campaign to enhance household incomes, which has shifted beyond his previous focus on infrastructure and service delivery.
"With infrastructural development in place, such as roads, schools, and markets. President Museveni is now asking you to embrace programmes to improve your household income. That’s the reason we are here. Apart from his package, the President wants you to continue following up on Government programs on the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, because these funds are meant to improve what you are already doing,” Princess Nassolo told the vendors.

A release from the Presidential Press Unit states that each of the 304 market vendors received sh100,000.
At the same events, the Special Presidential Assistant on Women Affairs, Flora Kabibi, urged vendors to focus on working hard and improving their livelihoods rather than political distractions.
“What is important is not to run around with political leaders but to focus on your work. Now that President Museveni has empowered us, let’s get to work, and when the day comes, elect the leader of your choice,” Kabibi said.

The assistance was delivered under the Roadside Market Vendors Project, which was launched in 2023 to directly support small-scale traders and informal market operators.
PPU also reported that throughout 2025, President Museveni has extended similar financial packages to thousands of vendors across Uganda, including along the Jinja Road corridor, Kampala, Hoima Road, Luwero, Nakasongola, Kiboga, Mpigi, and Masaka.
