Jubilee Insurance Company of Uganda Limited has rewarded its outstanding agents during an awards gala held on Friday at Protea Hotel Kampala.
During the annual club membership dinner, Rosemary Nabatanzi and Nelson Nsubuga were honoured as the outstanding agents for Jubilee Life.
Jubilee’s Chief Agency Officer, Linus T. Batya, underscored the critical role agents play in the insurance sector.
“We recognise agents because they are basically our key people within the business. Without the agent, there is no insurance. They contribute almost 80% of the premiums, and that's how important they are,” Batya said.
He explained that Jubilee Life Insurance enjoys over 22% of the market share, and this contribution is well-deserved from an agent's perspective, adding that celebrating agents reboots them to keep delivering.
He said the company continues to invest in training its agents to ensure they are well-equipped to provide sound financial advice to clients.
“We believe that a well-trained and informed agent is able to give the right advice to the client. Remember, we are dealing with people's finances, whether it is medical insurance, life insurance, pensions, or anything else. We always ensure that the agent has the right knowledge and is continuously involved from a learning perspective. Their knowledge is always kept up to date for the client,” Batya added
Batya added that the company is committed to ensuring agents help improve insurance awareness among the population as they seek to move penetration above the current less than 1%.
Eugine Mutekhele, the acting Chief Executive Officer for Jubilee Insurance, spoke to the company’s recent merger of its health and life insurance units, adding that agents have now been empowered to sell both life and medical insurance products under one company structure.
“As you may know, as of November last year, Jubilee Life Insurance and Jubilee Medical merged into one company. They are now one company selling both life and medical insurance.
This means that even our agents are now selling both life and medical insurance. To the client, this creates more trust. The client now has one person they can deal with to help with both their financial and medical challenges,” Mutekhele explained.
Mutekhele said the company’s focus is now on continuously nurturing agents through product knowledge, sales skills and financial advisory training.
“Our task now as a business is to ensure that continuously we are able to nurture these agents from a product perspective, from a selling skills perspective, and from a financial advice perspective. This ensures that when they meet a client out there, they are able to give holistic financial advice and provide comfortable guidance for clients to join us and work together with us in life insurance.”
The event came just a week after Jubilee received accolades at the Insurance Agents Awards 2025, organised by the Uganda Insurers Association to celebrate excellence and innovation by the agents.
