Java House Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local suppliers as the Kenyan-owned eatery store seeks to expand its footprint in Uganda.

Priscilla Gathungu, the Java House Group Chief Executive Officer, revealed this during commemorations to mark 10 years in Uganda held at Acacia Place.

Ugandan suppliers hold 99% of the total tenders offered by Java House Uganda. These supply products such as coffee, chicken, beef, Irish potatoes, and milk.

"Anniversaries help us to reflect and remind us of the milestones we’ve achieved along the way. At Java House, each customer's journey is flavored with a special ingredient. We cannot celebrate our success without commending suppliers who have over the years delivered quality products that have enabled us to retain our clientele,” Gathungu noted.

She noted that whereas the effects of covid-19 pandemic outbreak cannot go unmentioned, it offered them an opportunity to introduce delivery services and strike partnerships with players like Glovo.

“In business, every challenge is an opportunity. As COVID-19 struck, we cultivated meaningful partnerships within the Ugandan business ecosystem including diversifying our menu to cater to a wider range of customers. We are proud of our katogo and other local foods that we serve here.”

Since its inception, Java House has strived to create an unparalleled dining experience, rooted in its brand promise to create a welcoming home away from home but also borrowing from the culture and preferences of the Ugandan community.

“Whether one has come in for a taste of local food, or needs to huddle for a business meeting or social catchup, a special level of care is taken to ensure that our guests have a wonderful experience,” Eusila Jepleting, Country Manager of Java House Uganda.

The 10th anniversary has been described as a celebration of resilience, growth, and gratitude whose success is owed to loyal customers who have continued to support the business.

For now, the brand seeks to generate more product extensions across the retail range for instance the Cold Brew coffee, and will continue to innovate in line with emerging trends.
