Govt to celebrate Uganda female ICT professionals

As part of celebrations for Women’s Day, which is marked every March 8, the Ministry for ICT and National Guidance has planned to celebrate Uganda’s ICT professionals
The ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, who was an ICT lecturer before she was appointed PS last year, has announced that female ICT professionals will be celebrated during a six-day conference from March 7-12 at the National ICT innovation Hub at Nakawa under the theme; Celebrating Uganda’s Women in ICT and Innovation.
“As we celebrate women’s achievements around the world, the ministry of ICT and National Guidance under its ICT innovation initiative would like to specially recognise women-led ICT innovations including inventions, products and systems developed in Uganda or by Ugandans, “said a statement issued by Dr. Zawedde on Tuesday (March 1, 2022).
The ministry has invited all female ICT professionals to apply for the opportunity to showcase their innovations at the ICT Innovation Hub.
The ICT sector is the fastest-growing sector in the world and the ICT market is forecasted to reach a size of over five trillion dollars in 2021 and almost six trillion by 2023.
The theme for International Women's Day, March 8 2022 is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. The announcement was made on the United Nations website.
