On the invitation of Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, his counterpart, Gen. Odongo, joined 14 other African Ministers at the opening of the 8th Africa Singapore Business Forum (ASBF), which is being held on the sidelines of the SAMEV.
On August 28, President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana delivered the keynote address at the ASBF opening ceremony, in which he hailed the mutually beneficial relations between Singapore and the various African countries in attendance.
Apart from bilateral talks with his counterpart, Gen. Odongo is expected to pay a courtesy call on Mr Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Singapore.
A media release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that, "the meeting will also serve as an opportunity to engage in the areas of increased collaboration and ensure high-level participation by Singapore in the upcoming 63rd Session of the Asia-Africa Legal Consultative Organisation Conference in September and at the Non-Allied Movement Ministerial Review Meeting in October 2025 in Kampala.
The ministry statement adds that Uganda and Singapore enjoy cordial relations founded on common values and aspirations. The relations have great potential for expansion, especially in the areas of Trade, Investment, Digitisation of Government Services, Urban planning and Modern City Concepts.
