FORT PORTAL - Trade state minister in charge of industry Harriet Ntabazi has called on producers and entrepreneurs to concentrate on improving the quality of their products as they target the global and international markets.

Speaking during the launch of an open market day in Fort Portal city Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Ntabazi said despite the availability of market, Ugandan products are still struggling with quality and standardisation.

“We as a government are serious and concentrating on improving the quality of the products that are being exported. This is due to the fact that we have in the past had serious issues with the quality of our goods on the market,” Ntabazi said during the open market day that was organised by Stanbic bank.

She lauded the bank for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, which she said makeup over 60% of Uganda’s business community.

Paul Muganwa from Stanbic Bank said the open market day was aimed at creating a platform where manufacturers, service providers and vendors can freely interact with their customers.

“Many of the people participating in the open market day are clients of the bank that we have trained in business over time. So, we have now held an open market day so that they are able to showcase what they produce and also attract more sales,” Muganwa said.
