A delegation of entrepreneurs is planning to uplift the standard of Ugandans dealing in agro-business to match with the international market.

Tamer Safwat, the founder and managing director of Konzept Company in Egypt said Uganda has very high-quality agro-products, which need value addition to compete at the international market.

Tamer revealed this during the Egyptian Exhibition on Agro products where they shared information with the Ugandan business community through the Uganda Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCC&I) at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala Tuesday.

Tamer said this was their first mission to Uganda and they expect many players to transact business by the time they will leave the country.

Tamer said over 15 Egypt companies had come to share the experiences with the Ugandan manufacturers and the business community.

He said their team has experts in the field of packaging and processing, which Ugandans need most to expand in their business.

“We are not only interested in Ugandans products but also to help in uplifting the standards of their products to match with the international markets especially European Union, which is keen on standards,” Tamer.

Jog Ahilesh. the head of Corporate Strategy and planning Mukwano Group of Companies urged Ugandans to participate in such exhibitions as a way of learning the new technology, which will prevent them from importing certain goods.

Ahilesh added, “If we learn about technology from those who are already in business, it will benefit both the manufactures and farmers as far as maintaining standards right from the grassroots is a concern”.

Brenda Tibamwenda, the secretary-general (UCC&I) said the delegation is majoring in agro-finished products, which have business collaboration with the Uganda market.

Tibamwenda said the delegation is here to look for markets besides collaboration.
