The Uganda shilling closed Tuesday’s session a tad weaker at the 3667/3677 levels from the day’s opening of 3658/3668 against the dollar.

Traders attributed the slight weakness to some demand tickets from the energy sector that outweighed the dollar supply during the day.  

Money markets faced tight liquidity conditions during Tuesday’s session with overnight yields trading at averages of 10.91% according to Absa report.

The Bank of Uganda is scheduled to hold a treasury bill auction on October 23, 2024.

At the Uganda Securities Exchange, only three counters were active during the day’s session. Umeme exchanged 22,700 shares at sh430 per share according to data from Crested Capital.

Bank of Baroda traded 90,900 shares at sh22.50 per share, adding 0.63% to its stock price. Airtel Uganda exchanged 1,000 shares at sh65 per share.
