Newly elected president of the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) Lambert Etibot has urged Ugandans in the diaspora to work towards fostering unity and enhancing the country's image worldwide.

Etibot has emphasized the need for unity, teamwork, and reconciliation after taking over at a time when the association was mired in a wave of negative publicity. The leader says he is optimistic that he will steer UNAA to greater heights.

Etibot, who is based in US' Dallas, Texas, says with over 15 years of dedicated service as a UNAA member, he brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted passion for the organisation’s mission and that it is time for them to build a stronger and more inclusive association.

“I am excited about the journey ahead and the positive impact we will create together. Let us unite and work collectively for UNAA’s growth and advancement to attain our full potential,” he said via a phone call on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

The 36th Annual UNAA Convention & Trade Expo is expected to be held in Washington, DC, at the distinguished Gaylord National Resort & Convention Centre later this year.

The annual UNAA convention is the largest gathering of Ugandans in North America. It has since carved out an avenue for business, networking, and reuniting with family and friends.

UNAA is the largest non-political, formal association of Ugandans in the diaspora. The organisation aims to promote the social, cultural, and economic development of the Ugandan community in North America and beyond.

The Ugandan community in North America numbers over 120,000 individuals.
