Absa Bank Uganda has handed over cash prizes worth sh40m to four winners in its ongoing Play Your Cards Right campaign, which encourages customers to use debit and credit cards more frequently.
The campaign, which runs from June to August 2025, targets both personal and business cardholders. To enter the draw, customers must complete at least five transactions with their Absa cards within the campaign period.
Speaking at the prize handover at Absa headquarters in Kampala on July 21, Moses Rutahigwa, Absa’s Retail and Business Banking Director, said the campaign is part of the bank’s wider shift to focusing more on customer needs.

“When we launched this campaign, we promised that each month, we would award four winners, two from Personal Banking and two from Business Banking, each with sh10m,” he said.
“I’m glad that today we are fulfilling our promise. I congratulate the June winners and hope the financial rewards will help with some of life’s needs.”
According to the Bank of Uganda’s 2023 Financial Stability Report, debit card transactions amounted to sh561.5b, supported by over 3.8 million active cards. Credit card usage is also picking up, with transactions valued at sh30.9b from nearly 10,000 active cards.
In 2024, Absa’s card payment volumes rose by 18.5%. Active usage of Absa-issued cards grew by 15% compared to the overall market growth of just 2%.
