The 2025 Edition of the Kampala Geopolitics Conference will take place from the 9th to the 10th of April 2025 at the emblematic and prestigious Makerere University.

“Across the globe, there is so much going on but we need to bring the conversation back home as Ugandans. We want every citizen’s voice to be heard on critical issues that will shape the future. We need to discuss Africa, the opportunities that come with Artificial Intelligence, challenges and how it facilitates misinformation,” Xavier noted.

This year’s event shall comprise a variety of topics relating to international relations, regional security, peacekeeping and building peacebuilding.

Cultural activities including visual art, dance and music performances on peace, security, gender and cultural identity, will also punctuate the event.

Professor Mukadasi Buyinza: deputy vice-chancellor (academic affairs), at Makerere University, said the conference has seen its inception has had an impact on Uganda's intellectual landscape.

“The past seven editions, in particular, stand as a testament to the maturation of this partnership. We have successfully navigated the challenges posed by the global pandemic, adapted our formats to ensure continuity, and emerged with an even stronger commitment to fostering dialogue across boundaries,” Professor Mukadasi highlighted.

The success of the Kampala Geopolitics Conference rests fundamentally on the strength of partnership as each institution brings unique capabilities, perspectives, and networks that when combined, create something greater.

Nils Wormer, the Director Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Regional Programme Security Dialogue for East Africa said his organization will avail its extensive experience in promoting democratic dialogue, its global network of experts, and its commitment to evidence-based policy discussions.
