Namugongo-Kireka road lane to be closed as repairs start

One lane on the Kireka-Namugongo road in Kampala will, be closed off, after the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) announced the start of repair works starting March 16, 2024.

The roads authority (UNRA), in a public notice dated March 12, 2024, said the maintenance works aim to enhance the road's surface condition and safety, ensuring excellent satisfaction and comfort for all road users.

The road repair works are expected to be completed by the end of May 2024 the statement says.

According to UNRA, the physical works will entail resurfacing of the main carriageway and installation of road safety facilities: “During the maintenance period, traffic will be restricted to one lane while the other undergoes repair. Additionally, temporary closure of road sections will occur during Asphalt concrete overlay operations, with traffic diverted to nearby alternative routes. Both the Traffic Police and the contractor safety team will be present on-site to assist road users accordingly”.

Stirling is the same company that is currently engaged in the construction and repair of the Northern Bypass.
