What will it take to save church land from encroachment?
Land conflicts and evictions have left many bibanja holders homeless while others have lost lives in clashes over land. The problem has been attributed to people who buy land occupied by squatters and evict them forcibly.

Uganda’s total land area is 241,559 sq.km. About 37,000 sq.km of this is occupied by open water while the rest
