Christians from Tororo Catholic Archdiocese have held a special prayer in dedication to fallen Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in recognition of his service while still alive.
Led by Archbishop Dr Emmanuel Obbo, all the religious leaders at various levels and hundreds of Christians today (Monday, January 09) morning gathered at the Uganda Martyrs Cathedral, Nyangole in Tororo municipality for the special prayers.
The Christians hailed Benedict XVI as a selfless leader who cared for his subjects and promoted unity through continuous evangelism, which led to the growth of the Roman Catholic Church in diversity.
Obbo said despite being of advanced age, Benedict XVI still welcomed criticism and lived a happy life without any egoism.
Benedict XVI, who died on December 31, 2022, was buried at St Peter's Basilica, Vatican city on January 5.
Pope Benedict XVI in 2013 became the first pontiff to resign since 1415, citing his declining physical and mental health.
