National Resistance Movement (NRM) party secretary general has urged Ugandans to stop spending too much of their time in places of worship if they want to get rich.

Todwong says many people are spending most of their time in places of worship and in the long run end up lamenting that they are poor: "How do you expect to fight household poverty when you spend most of your time in places of worship? Even God emphasizes hard work”.

He made the remarks while addressing the media shortly after having an engagement with the Faith of Unity Movement believers on May 22, 2024, at Kapyemi Healing Centre in Kagadi district.

Todwong said adding that if you do not work, you will not find something to eat.

He commended the faith of unity believers for dedicating only three times o prayer in per month and the rest of the time is dedicated to working.

“I wish these other religions learn from you because you cannot expect to be praying from Monday to Monday and end household poverty without working hard. Even God talks about hard and if you do not work, you will not eat,” Todwong said.

“Uganda can only develop when one works hard at a personal level,” Todwong said, noting that unemployment is one of the leading causes of domestic violence in families.

Using the same platform, Faith of Unity head Omukama Bisaka commended NRM chairperson President Yoweri Museveni for being a strong leader who has a vision for his people.

“President Museveni is a strong leader who isn’t easily shaken. He is a person who has a vision for his people,” Bisaka said.
