In a powerful display of commitment to women's empowerment, Standard Chartered Bank Uganda and BRAC joined forces to celebrate International Women’s Day with a transformative event aimed at uplifting young women.

At the heart of this initiative lies the Goal Girls programme, where 50 young women were brought together for an inspiring Mentor’s Den event under the theme: "Turning Passion into Success."

The Mentor’s Den serves as a platform to nurture the potential of young women, bringing them together with mentors who offer guidance and support.

Through candid conversations and shared wisdom, these sessions empower young women to navigate challenges and embrace entrepreneurship, particularly in fields traditionally dominated by men.

Beyond mere dialogue, this collaboration underscores a commitment to tangible action in advancing women empowerment.

Through the Goal project, supported by Standard Chartered Bank Uganda and Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, young women are equipped with essential life skills and financial education.

These tools enable them not only to thrive in their personal endeavors but also to take on leadership roles within their families and communities.

The impact of this partnership is profound, with over 60,000 adolescent girls across rural and urban communities in Uganda already benefiting from the Goal project.

Through safe spaces and dedicated coaching, these young women are empowered to break barriers and pursue their dreams, thus driving positive change within their societies.

Margaret Kigozi, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand, and Marketing at Standard Chartered, emphasized the pivotal role of women in driving inclusive prosperity.

"At Standard Chartered, we recognize that empowering women isn't just a moral imperative; it's a strategic investment in the future," she stated.

According to her, providing women with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, is not only fostering individual empowerment but also building stronger, more resilient communities.

This celebration of International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the collective power and potential of women and underscores the importance of ongoing efforts to empower and uplift them.

Through initiatives like the Goal Girls programme, Standard Chartered Bank Uganda and BRAC are paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future, where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and succeed
