On October 1, 2025, the People's Republic of China marked its 76th National Day.
While parades and toasts celebrate national pride, the eternal message of this day has evolved: not merely as a commemoration of its founding in 1949, but as a testament to an extraordinary journey of transformation.
China flourished from a seed, growing into a tree in whose shade 800 million people were lifted out of poverty, 10 years ahead of schedule, proving their fortitude, propelling us ahead of time. China is the root nurturing global development, focusing on high-quality development.
Having endured the dust of colonialism and war. China has grown into something stronger. Today, China is known as the “world factory,” becoming a global innovation hub, with rapid advancements in partner countries by 5.4 per cent in the first eight months of this year.
At the heart of China’s progress lies the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Rooted in the country’s own traditions and thought system, CPC has guided China with well-thought-out plans that explain today's China’s stability and modernisation. Through policies such as the Eight Point Regulation, China has strengthened public unity, curbed corruption, and reinforced discipline, confirming that well-led governance reform can lead to long-term growth and national development.
This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War, known globally as World War II. China celebrates its role in that victory, as part of its identity and foundation for worldviews.
The historic triumph laid the groundwork for today’s international law system. Since then, China has consistently lived up to its position as a champion of evolution and peace.
Not only has China managed to thrive independently, but it has also held hands with other nations, making significant international contributions. Standing by one another is something that has stood out to me.
At the recent National Day celebration, I was struck by the dedication and unity of the Chinese community- their profound love for their nation, and their willingness to honour achievements with their friends, as though they were all one.
The event was respectful, engaging, rich with heartfelt exchanges, reflecting not only China’s pride in itself, but also its openness towards others. It was a reminder that national spirit, paired with friendship, becomes a bridge to success.
In the medical sector, China has been working with a number of countries to support their medical sector. In Uganda, for example, China has sent more than 200 medical workers to Uganda, expressing their solidarity and acceptance of growth as one.
Some institutes, such as Makerere University, have also facilitated cultural and language exchange systems, expressing the depth of commitment between the two nations.
Additionally, through the FAO-China-Uganda-South-South-Cooperation program, Chinese agricultural experts have helped enhance help boost productivity and added value for local farmers.
This cooperation has already yielded outstanding economic results. As a follow-up to China’s zero tariff to 33 least developed countries in Africa announced in 2024, during the 2025 June’s FOCAC Ministerial Conference, China announced a 100% tariff exemption for all exports from African countries with diplomatic ties with China. As a result, Uganda’s exports to China surpassed US$84 million by July 2025, registering a remarkable 97.8% year-on-year hike. Coffee exports to China alone surged by 150%. An achievement for both nations.
China's 76th National Day is a reminder that this nation’s story is one of hope.
From a country scarred by war and suffering, it created a masterpiece example of strength, innovation, and trust. China has blossomed into a tree of resilience, ensuring progress around the world.
Happy 76th, China!
