KAMPALA - Pastor Jackson Senyonga of the Christian Life Church in Bwaise in Kampala has vowed to fish Uganda out of the waters of false prophets.

Ssenyonga made the pronouncement in his Easter sermon to the hundreds of worshippers who packed his church at Makerere-Kavule on Sunday (March 31, 2024).

“This year, we are going to have mass weekly evangelism and conferences across the country for youth, women, the business community, and in schools to fish Uganda out of the waters of false prophets,” Ssenyonga said.

Without mentioning the names, Ssenyonga informed the congregation that some of the false prophets have since bought bloggers to tarnish his name.

“For those of you who have been reading newspapers and those on social media, I believe you are seeing bloggers that are abusing us. They have been bought by false prophets to tarnish my name. They want me to forget the message and start defending myself,” Ssenyonga said.

He added, “If they are going to buy people (bloggers) to tarnish my name, I will fight defensively. This is the cup I have to drink and I will drink it in Jesus’s name. God, I pray that you give us courage and power to communicate the reality.”

Regardless of the price he may pay, Ssenyonga said he would not rest until all false prophets in the born-again churches have been fished out of the waters in the country.

“If they think this can take my mind away from evangelism, they are daydreaming. We shall fight for our generation and by the grace of God, we shall win,” Ssenyonga said.
A false prophet is a person who falsely claims the gift of prophecy or divine inspiration or to speak for God or who makes such claims for evil ends.

Ssenyonga appealed to his followers to stay firm and ignore narratives created by a group of people he described as false prophets and their agents about him.

“They say that I was jailed for one year, this is a total lie. You are dealing with a devil. Let me tell you, I have so many good pastors who have reached out to me encouraging me to remain strong saying that they are praying for me. So, remain strong, we shall fight for our generation, and by the grace of God, we shall win,” he said.

Ssenyonga urged Christians to desist from acts of evil and turn to God. “Nobody can defeat a true born-again Christian. Some of you were sinners, prostitutes, drunkards among others but you have been saved. I want to tell you that no religion is better than a born-again Christian. Therefore, your faith and hope should be in God.”

Citing Romans 6:4 and Peter 1:21, Ssenyonga entreated God to defeat his enemies and those of his followers. “God, we pray today that you defeat our enemies. Defeat our enemies because they are not stronger than death. Jesus defeated death. God, empower us and help us overcome everything,” Ssenyonga requested.

Ssenyonga announced that this year is a year of action for his ministry. He announced a 40-day fasting starting next week in addition to increased prayer sessions at his church.
Ssenyonga also implored the Christians to support the church to meet its budget.

“We need 20 people to give us sh1m per month, 100 people to give us sh5m per month and 200 people to give us sh2.5m so that we can meet our budget. Please, don’t just make pledges, I only want those who can afford this. The rest give in whatever you can afford so that our ministry moves on,” Ssenyonga said.

He indicated that the money is needed to pay Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) dues, UBC TV mast, workers’ salaries, and expansion of the church among others.
