Need for sustainable solid waste management

Challenges with the current solid waste management include; One, there is lack of municipal/city-led source separation mechanisms, therefore, all the waste is mixed and disposed of together, which imposes high pressure on the landfill and leads to economic loss in the waste value chain, as the resources are not recovered.
