The scenic beauty of Agago district leaves one in awe. I got an opportunity to tour Agago district and my main aim was to look at Kalongo Hll; commonly known as Oret Hill.
Oret Hill is about 1,600 metres above sea level.
I went there thinking that there was only one hill; but to my amazement, the northern part of Agago district is fortified with massive hills; bigger than Oret Hill.
The locals say that there are hundreds of hills. This is unbelievable.
The place is endowed with natural scenic beauty. Oret Hill is famous simply because it is situated in Kalongo town council and trails that lead to the top of the mountain are developed, and accessible.
Otherwise from my own observation, there are so many hills that are bigger than Oret Hill.
Almost every hill has a name, and not every hill is being utilised for hiking.
A number of them are redundant, with no activities revolving around those sites.
The district has more than enough resources for road construction.
Science has it that, features like hills, mountains, and rocks do contain large deposits of minerals.
There is a very high possibility that such hills could be hiding deposits of minerals and precious stones. God, may you help Agago discover, and tap into this untold wealth!
The trip to the Kalongo hills was organised by Alexander Okidi, the minister of sports of Ker Kwaro Acholi, a cultural institution, headed by His Royal Highness, Lawirwodi, Rwot Onen David Acana II.
