There was chaos during the Zzina Awards at the International University of East Africa auditorium on Thursday, February 8, 2024 perpertrated by the fans of musicians Alien Skin (Fangone Soldiers) and rivals Fik Gaza (Abaana be Gaza, meaning the children of Gaza).
The awards recognise the outstanding entertainers of the previous year.
The members of the two camps were made to sit in the area. However, the atmosphere was characterised by noise and exchange of words, something that left guests in fear.
At around 10:00pm, Alien Skin and his gang of about 50 people reached the venue and the fracas began right away; the Fangone Army overpowered the bouncers at the entrance who were informing them about the payment procedures. The group entered without clearing the fees.
At 11:00pm, Abaana be Gaza also reached the venue in a number much more than Alien’s and also resisted security.

Quickly, more fear engulfed the guests on what was to happen next.
Fik Gaza began his performance at around 11:30 pm; he sang his songs pointing at the area where the Fangon Soldiers were seated, something that his gang interpreted as a call to attack the Fangone Army.
As the performance went on, Abaana be Gaza attacked the Fangone Army and blows were exchanged. It took more than an hour for the organisers to calm down the situation.

Revellers were seen scampering to leave before any robbery took place.
“Let’s leave before the Fangone Army and Abaana Ba Gaza make their way out because we might get injured and lose our goodies in the fight.”
The event wrapped up when Alien Skin won the Song of the Year Award.
The organisers thanked Ugandans for voting their own and urged them to love Ugandan music.
