Schools in Arua city have strengthened infection preventive measures to control the red eye disease.
This initiative comes shortly after the Arua city Authorities declared an outbreak of red eye disease (conjunctivitis) in some institutions and communities.
Arua One FM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, visited some schools in Arua city to establish the implementation of some standards to scale down the spread of the infection.
The headteacher of Golden Treasure Primary School, Stephen Oleah, said the school has resumed regular hand washing with detergents to protect the learners and teachers from infections.
Queens and Kings Primary School headteacher Max Odong said the school embarked on a sensitisation programme to create awareness about the outbreak of red eye disease and preventive measures.
St. Philips Nursery and Primary School deputy headteacher Jane Ajonye said as an emergency, the school has provided eye drops for First Aid in case it turns out that a child has gotten infected.
