The Green-UG coordinating teacher and students of Pallisa Senior Secondary School have embarked on transforming poorly disposed of plastics and polythene papers into the making of bags, ropes, and portable pot gardens.

For several years now, plastics and polythene have been identified as one of the country’s biggest pollutants with the greatest impact on climate change, which affects mostly the country’s food production.

According to Charles Ojanga, the coordinating teacher, the polymers are serving a better importance to the community than being a danger to the environment.

Collection of polymers has helped restore the environment’s green cover and the

water supply to the soil both within and outside the school, which

enables sustainable food production.
