_______________

Ten years ago, Vision Group management took a bold and lucrative step when it brought to life all the content of the Harvest Money pullout and turned it into an exposition.

Today, the Harvest Money Expo has made its mark on Uganda’s calendar as the biggest agricultural show in the country.

And tomorrow, the expo will begin till March 1, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, at a reasonable fee of sh10,000 for visitors to pay at the entrance.

It is reasonable because of the wealth of knowledge visitors will receive and the networking opportunities for both visitors and exhibitors that have the potential to spur them to success.

Over the years, the company has partnered with very respectable players in agriculture and its supporting sectors. This year, the expo has been sponsored by: the Kingdom of the Netherlands, ENGSOL, Pearl Bank, CASE, aBi, Tunga Nutrition, and Champrisa International Limited. Others include: Uganda Development Corporation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and the European Union.

Since it is a big three-day event, visitors are advised to design a strategy that will help them reap bountifully from the experience. Some of the tips they will need are listed below:

  • Dress comfortably: Wear light clothes to ensure your comfort as you move around the grounds, and comfortable shoes too. You should also remember to carry a jacket or scarf because Kampala's weather is unpredictable. You may also wear a hat or carry an umbrella in case it gets too hot or rains.
  • Carry a notebook or a tab: The expo training sessions are invaluable, with an array of information and sharing from experts and the audience. It would be foolhardy if you attended one session, but forgot to jot down expert advice in that practice, such as: fishing, farming, bee-keeping and coffee growing.
  • Carry a power bank: The day can easily go by with you taking videos and photos of exhibitors. You may also take selfies and TikTok videos of the expo, which may drain your battery faster than you had envisaged. A power bank will come in handy at this point.
  • Come with money: You will find many things at the expo that you may want to buy, depending on your area of interest. In the event that you forget or run out of money, there will be mobile money agents to serve you. You may want to buy seeds, flowers, herbal medicine, and snacks.
  • Be an early bird: Come early to the expo so that you can have lengthy engagements with exhibitors. You will also walk comfortably on the grounds before the sun’s glare comes out.
