LUWERO - The Police in Luwero district have arrested four women who allegedly assaulted their 89-year-old mother to death as they demanded money she had received from a property she sold.

Sam Twiineamazima, the Savanna Region Police spokesperson, said the murder by assault occurred at Bbale Kamuzingiza village, Kiyanda parish, Nyimbwa sub-county in Luwero district.

“The Territorial Police in Luwero district is actively investigating a case of murder by assault which occurred on Friday, April 26, 2024, at around 5:00 pm at John's clinic in Bbowa. The deceased has been identified as Yowanina Nalujja a female adult aged 89 years old,” Twiineamazima said.

He indicated that preliminary information indicates that on May 25, 2024, at about 4:00 pm, the suspects only identified as Naziiwa, Nafuna, Naiga, and Namutebi, all daughters of the deceased, beat their mother while demanding the money from selling her plot of land.

“After the fight, she was rushed to John's clinic at Bbowa where she was pronounced dead. Upon police receiving the information from the chairman of the same area, they responded immediately a case of murder by assault was registered, scene visited and documented by scene of crime officers and homicide squad from Bombo,” he said.

“Relevant statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, four suspects in connection to murder were arrested, and the body was conveyed to Mulago city mortuary for post-mortem examination,” Twiineamazima added.

He said more inquiries are still ongoing.
