Incumbent Hoima city Mayor Brian Kaboyo has retained National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag. He is now expected to represent the party in the 2026 general election for the same seat.
Hoima city NRM election officer Sarah Kobusinge declared Kaboyo the winner at the city tally centre at Kitara Secondary School on the night of July 24, 2025.
Kaboyo polled 8,143 56.5% votes, beating his closest rival, speaker Hoima City Council Edward Isingoma, who got 5,392 (37.4%) votes, and Kahuma Mustafa, who polled 873 (6%) votes.
Kobusinge also declared Kyomuhendo Robert Ruhigwa winner of Hoima West City Division mayor NRM flag, after polling 2,950 (35.5%), beating Mugisa Ronald Mahad 2,692 (32.4%) and Kyomuhendo Julius 2,649 (31.5%).
Kaboyo appreciated the people of Hoima for entrusting him with the NRM flag and called for teamwork with other leaders.
Meanwhile, for Hoima East, the incumbent mayor Bosco Muhanuzi has been declared NRM flag bearer unopposed.
In Kiryandongo district, incumbent Aliguma Edith polled 8,872, beating Kiirya Toofa 7,687, Osaga Nelson 1,946, Rwamudor Brian 3,070 and Yokolam Tito 244.
Over 70,000 villages involved
Ruling National Resistance Movement party yesterday, July 24, 2025, held its local government council primaries (for division mayors, Lord mayor, municipality mayors, LC3 chairperson, town council/municipal division mayor, directly elected councillors at the district, municipal and sub-county level and woman councillor at district, municipal and subcounty level) across the whole country in over 70,000 villages.
The primaries followed the ones of Member of Parliament held a week earlier.
