Speaker Anita Annet Among has gone public about plans to set up a saloon in the new parliamentary chambers under construction.

Among disclosed this while chairing plenary on Thursday (April 11). This was during the communication from the chair segment when MPs were eulogizing the principal clerk assistant John Bosco Kagoro, who died on Wednesday this week.

According to her, this incentive is poised at encouraging female lawmakers and staff to exercise in the existing gym without fear of messing up their hair.

“It’s a choice, you can have a saloon; you can have everything. In the new building, by the way, you will have everything, be rest assured. Even when you want to rest, you will always have a resting place,” said the Speaker.

Earlier on, environment state minister Beatrice Anywar had asked for provision of a saloon in the new building arguing, that the current environment is not conducive.

“We take time to prepare ourselves and one of them is myself, my hair, my whatever and my nails. That is part of a woman," she said.

“If we had it [saloon], the ladies would come even earlier, spend more time in the gym knowing that they will rush and clear up and then rush into House. You know, shorten time when they are out of the Parliament."

For six years now, Roko Construction Company has been constructing the new chambers at a tune of sh179 billion.
