Rev. Fr. Abooki Dominicsavio from St. Balikuddembe Catholic Church Kirowooza, Mukono district believes the current surge in crime especially corruption, bribery and murder can only be curbed if the fear of God is entrenched in the people.

As such, he urged parents to instil values and raise their children in God’s ways such that even when they grow up, they never depart from them. He also reminded the congregation that the fear of God is the source of wisdom.

Fr. Abooki delivered this sermon during a Thanksgiving mass at the church last Sunday, March 31. The mass was led by pupils of Pearl Inclusive Education Center, thanking God for the good performance over the years and good relations with the church and neighbours of Kirowooza village, Mukono municipality. The school has existed for 11 years. The pupils first cleaned the church and its compound on Saturday.

On Sunday, they formed the choir, read scriptures and served as altar boys. Another group danced and carried gifts and offertory. In tow were the school directors; Prossy and Friday Kyomya, headmistress Phoebe Namayanja and over 20 teachers clad in blue attires.

Turning to the pupils, Fr. Abooki implored them to have a believing heart. That way, they will believe even without seeing not like the Biblical Thomas who doubted Jesus ' resurrection until He appeared to him after eight days.

In the same faith, Fr. Abooki encouraged children to always be active and move with others.

“Don’t doubt when they tell you something. If it’s time for food, exams or play, be there,” he said.

He also reminded them to emulate Jesus by behaving well; resist sin but rather treat others with respect and love.

Kyomya, the director thanked the church for giving the school an opportunity to minister and requested that it happens at least once every month. He pledged five pews (benches) for the church and promised to continue supporting the church at all times.
