Teso region deputy Kadhi Sheik Ramathan Ibrahim Ibwakit has implored the Muslim community of Teso to protect the rights of women and children. He has also urged them to ensure that they celebrate Eid-al-Fitr with their families.
Speaking during the Eid prayers at Soroti Sports Grounds, Ibwakit urged the Muslim community to ensure they continue with the norms they exhibited during the holy month of Ramadan by ensuring they remain faithful to each other and loving their neighbours.

“Celebrate with love in your families that is when Allah will be happy with us and we should not be hostile to our wives at home. Some of us have more than one family but do not forget your parents, ensure they celebrate the feast happily,” Ibwakit said on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Indecent dressing concerns
He expressed concern over the way Muslim youth, especially the girls dress indecently, which according to him is displeasing God.

“As much as the Muslim faith requires women to dress in long dresses now our women have decided to buy long, but transparent dresses that expose their nakedness. Parents should ensure that such dressing code is banned,” Ibwakit said.
The prayers were attended by Soroti city speaker Juliet Agonyo who advised Muslims to ensure that they remain united.
